Whether you’re working with a post-to-post rail system, or an over-the-post rail system, in most cases you will need some series of components to tie it all together nicely, or more simply, to make it “fit.” Fittings are of many different kinds, and allow you to easily adapt your rail system to your home’s layout. They are designed to accommodate alignment, enhance starting points, and bring consistent resolution at ending points throughout the installation process. All of the following profiles are available in Red Oak, White Oak, Hard Maple, American Cherry, Brazilian Cherry, Poplar, Beech, Walnut, Mahogany, and Hickory. If there is some other custom species that you’re looking for, please do not hesitate to ask us about it.
70 series 2 1/4” x 2 3/8”
The 70 series line of fittings is the most popular approach to a stair system. Its popularity stems from its basic, but attractive design, and as well its suitability in dimensions which may be accommodated to nearly any home. The profile is a fine balance between “not too plain” and “not too busy” or “not too big” and “not too small.” It is also very easy to work with in the installation process. The more complex a profile is, the more complex the installation process becomes. If you’re looking for a profile that’s popular, attractive, not too plain or busy, not too big or small, and easy to install, then the 70 series is just right for you.

The following fittings are available in all of the profiles mentioned previously (70-79).
For convenience we will use the 70 series to convey your options.
72 series 2 5/8” x 2 3/8”
The 72 series line of fittings is the largest version of a very popular profile. It exhibits all of the same characteristics of the 70 and 71 series regarding basic design and ease of installation, yet is slightly bigger than both. Like the 71 series, it also widens your range of baluster options (see our 1 ¾ line of balusters). If you’re looking for the characteristics of the 70 and 71 series line, yet want it slightly bigger, then the 72 series is just for you.

73 series 2” x 2 3/8”
The 73 series line of fittings is the smallest profile we have to offer you. It retains a very simple yet attractive design, and is very easy to work with in the installation process. It offers a unique smoothness in approach which is even more noticeable when handling.

77 series 2 ¾” x 2 ¾”
The 77 series profile is one of our largest profiles. It also is our most popular profile when it comes to complexity and overall design, and also offers you a widened range of baluster options according to your preference (see our 1 ¾ line of balusters). If you’re looking for a larger and more weighty rail, with an intricate array of finely crafted curves and angles, then this profile is just for you.
